3152 Gallery, established in the UK by art enthusiast Thandeka Tlou is a platform for African contemporary art, created to showcase artists from Southern Africa and the diaspora.
3152 Gallery begins its journey in 2025 and draws inspiration pre-birth through paying reverence to the founder’s grandparents whose humble beginnings from Matabeleland, Zimbabwe in the 1950’s led them to 3152, a plot of land in the country’s capital city.
Thandeka’s grandfather, originally from Botswana met her grandmother, a Ndebele woman, and together they nurtured their children to appreciate art and creativity amidst the political transitions that were taking place during this period. The appreciation of art was passed down to her mother and aunt, who encouraged her to continue the tradition. From there, Thandeka felt deeply connected to paintings on canvas and other forms of art, often referencing the solace found in appreciating art as an observer.
Born in Zimbabwe, with grandparents who originated from Botswana and South Africa, she has felt a deep sense of honouring her countries of origin thus seeking to represent new and emerging artists from Southern Africa who are keen to share their journey with art.
